The perfect canvas and cast for a Ballynahinch Castle wedding photographer.
Some weddings feel like they were destined for a particular place, and Megan and Will’s Ballynahinch Castle wedding was exactly that. In the heart of Connemara, surrounded by mountains, rivers, and history, their celebration unfolded with elegance, intimacy, and a spirit of joy that was a privilege to capture as their photographer.

Morning Moments – Calm Glam and Quiet Chaos
The day began within the walls of Ballynahinch Castle itself, with Megan and Will preparing in two rooms steps apart. Yet the atmosphere in each could not have been more different. Megan’s room was a picture of calm glam, soft light, laughter, and a serene energy as she and her bridesmaids got ready.
Across the hall, things were more spirited. One of Will’s brothers discovered his shirt wasn’t quite right, leading to a last-minute scramble. His mum and sister came to the rescue, stitching and steaming with the kind of quiet heroism only family can provide.
And then there was the groomsman with two different shoes, another moment of levity that had everyone laughing and set the tone for the day.
These candid contrasts are what I love to photograph: the balance between composed elegance and the unscripted moments that make each wedding so uniquely human.

A Bracing Start - Dogs Bay, Roundstone
Earlier that morning, the lads had embraced Connemara’s wild beauty with a dip at Dogs Bay, Roundstone.
The Atlantic was cool and refreshing, and their laughter echoed across the white sand. It was raw, joyful, and the perfect prelude to the heartfelt ceremony that followed.

Ceremony at St James’ Church, Cashel
St James’ Church in Cashel offered an intimate setting for Megan and Will’s vows.
Nestled close to the water with views across the bay, the stone church framed a ceremony filled with personal meaning.
The light streamed through tall windows, illuminating moments of pure emotion-Will’s expression as he saw Megan, the quiet hand squeeze, the joyful embrace at the altar.

Following the ceremony, we returned to Ballynahinch Castle for family photographs. The walled garden was the perfect setting, structured yet natural, with its ivy-clad walls creating a private backdrop for timeless family portraits.
From there, we spent just ten minutes with the bridal party, capturing laughter, movement, and the easy bond of close friends. Then, with Megan and Will alone, we found quiet corners of the estate for portraits that balanced intimacy with the castle’s grandeur.
Because we worked quickly and purposefully, Megan and Will were free to fully immerse themselves in a long drinks reception, sharing time with their guests rather than being pulled away for hours of photographs.
This balance is always at the heart of my approach, capturing the moments that matter while allowing couples to live their day truly.
A Cinematic Legacy
The day carried extra resonance as Will’s father, Arthur Lappin, is one of Ireland’s most respected film producers. Storytelling runs deep in the family, and it felt fitting that their wedding would be crafted like a living film – cinematic, heartfelt, and anchored in place. Photographing it felt like documenting a story that will resonate across generations, a blend of family heritage and timeless love.

As the evening unfolded, Ballynahinch Castle revealed all its magic: candlelit interiors, flowing champagne, and laughter spilling into the gardens.
The venue is extraordinary for wedding photography, offering both grandeur and intimacy, and Megan and Will’s day reflected that perfectly.

Storytelling in Photo and Film
Although this post highlights the photography, we also created a wedding film for Megan and Will. Still frames preserve timeless elegance, while film carries the heartbeat of the day.
Together, they form a complete narrative-one that Megan and Will will relive for years to come.
This is our signature style wedding video, blending the narrative of the day with stunning visuals.
Closing Thoughts of a Ballynahinch Castle wedding photographer
Being Megan and Will’s Ballynahinch Castle wedding photographer was more than documenting a day-it was about capturing a story.
From the quiet chaos of the morning to the heartfelt ceremony and the laughter of the reception, every detail reflected who they are and what matters most to them. It was a privilege to witness and an honour to tell their story through my lens.
